Staff nurse Sammy Christie was back on duty at Morriston Hospital in Swansea within hours of winning the ladies muscle figure category at the Physical Culture Association’s (PCA) Welsh Championships.

Her victory was all the more impressive as she only took up bodybuilding 18 months ago.

She now trains six days a week, and has to eat six or seven times a day.

‘I had always been keen on keeping fit and was a regular at the gym but I wanted to challenge myself,’ she said.

‘I decided to change my physique so I started training with a specialist coach and changed my diet. Doing this has meant a complete change of lifestyle.’

Ms Christie has already set her sights on defending her title at next year’s PCA Welsh Championships and may get a chance to compete for the British crown in 2017.
