Nurses have been gliding around wards with walking frames and demonstrating their Irish dancing skills as part of a music week at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Champion Irish dancer and lead nurse for medicine Caroline Thomas treated patients to a Riverdance-style display, with colleagues Gaynor Richards and Petula Klepp improvising with walking frames to live music by cello and violin duo Pegbox.

Ms Thomas has won Irish dancing competitions and goes to ceilidhs during trips home to Donegal.

‘It was completely spontaneous, the music was so good and I just got caught up in the moment,’ she said.

‘It was lovely being able to do something different for our patients.’
