Nurses are being urged to vote to elect the next RCN president and deputy president, with the candidates announced on the college’s website.

RCN chair of council Dee Sissons said: ‘Nursing has been in people’s minds like never before and now is a hugely important time for all of those involved in it.

‘The president and deputy president are ambassadors not just for the RCN but for the whole nursing profession, both in the UK and around the world.’

Four nominees are standing for each post

Voting will be via a postal ballot, open from 1-30 September.

The nominees for president are:

  • Yvonne Coghill.
  • Julie Green.
  • Stuart McKenzie.
  • Anne Marie Rafferty.

The nominees for deputy president are:

  • Tracey Budding.
  • Michelle Forde.
  • Clara Hikwa.
  • Mike Travis.

The successful candidates will be announced on 1 October and take up their two-year posts on 1 January 2021.
