Nursing student placements during the pandemic are the topic of the latest Nursing Standard podcast.

Two second-year adult nursing students from the University of Dundee, Brian Webster and Dean McMaster, discuss their experiences with senior nurse editor Richard Hatchett.

During the COVID-19 crisis, nursing students have been given the option to choose to do theory-only studies or undertake a paid placement.

In Scotland, those on practice placements, like Mr McMaster, receive their bursary and also a salary. Students such as Mr Webster on the theory option continue their studies as usual with only their bursary.

The different pathways and payments have caused some debate among the nursing profession.
