Applications are open for awards that recognise healthcare support workers, apprentices and teamwork.

Skills for Health and the National Skills Academy for Health have announced the return of the Our Health Heroes Awards following their successful launch last year.

Categories include awards for the best apprentice, workforce planning team, integrated team, clinical support worker and operational services support worker.

Healthcare staff from across the UK can be nominated by line managers and colleagues. The winner will be announced at a ceremony later this year.

Above and beyond

Ruth May, executive director of nursing at NHS Improvement, said: The NHS is filled to the brim with people who go above and beyond what is needed.

It is thanks to our staff that patients, their families and the wider community continue to trust and rely on an incredible service.
