The audit measures the quality of diabetes care provided to people when they are admitted to hospital, whatever the cause, and aims to support quality improvement.

Education to improve insulin safety

Trend Diabetes co-chair and diabetes nurse consultant Debbie Hicks said: ‘Healthcare professionals need to be fully educated about insulin safety in a bid to help eradicate unnecessary errors. We urge all NHS trusts to download and implement this free online course.’

The course, which is available for download by organisations not individuals, incorporates insulin safety training and includes individual learning assessments. The module will be updated as new information becomes available.

The training programme can be used as part of nurses’ revalidation.
