Giving nurses control over shifts: are bosses’ attitudes changing?

Front-line healthcare staff who took part in a recent Institute for Employment Studies survey say they should be given more choice about when they work. Nurses working shorter shifts with a consistent rota pattern are more likely to stay in their jobs. Though many nurses have no input about their shift patterns, some employers are now offering nursing staff more control over rotas to ensure job satisfaction and retention.
