A nationwide point of contact

Pat Fairbrother Senior Nursing Lecturer, University of Sheffield and Chair of the NLPF

This report describes the National Lecturer Practitioner Forum and how its work supports lecturer practitioners and promotes their activities across the UK

THE NATIONAL Lecturer Practitioner Forum (NLPF), based at the Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) in London, has a national database of lecturer practitioners from all specialties across the UK. Nurses, midwives and health visitors who are in lecturer practitioner roles, know only too well that the role is not only highly demanding, but can be a lone existence, as he or she might be the only lecturer practitioner employed by a particular trust. The forum is the first point of contact for networking and meeting other lecturer practitioners who are facing the issues which inevitably arise from working across two professional arenas.
