Thank you to Seacole statue supporters

Looking back on one of the most inspiring days of my life, the unveiling of the Mary Seacole Memorial Statue on 30 June, I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all your readers who kindly supported the appeal over the past 12 years.

Nurses and other health workers played a huge part in the success of the fundraising drive. As the charity’s former vice-chair I have particularly appreciated the role of Nursing Standard as media partner.

Please take the opportunity to pay a visit to St Thomas’ Hospital to see this stunning work of art by internationally acclaimed sculptor Martin Jennings.

It is in the gardens overlooking the River Thames and the Houses of Parliament, and is lit at night. I know you will be impressed.
