When Jackie Buxton was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2013, she decided to blog about her experience of living with cancer and nine months of treatment.

Inspired to then write a novel about her experiences, the book is a refreshingly candid account, offering a glimpse into the world of these brave patients.

This poignant text has two strengths. In sharing her observations to help others realise that people with cancer don’t need to be defined by it, Jackie also shows her compassion for those providing her care. And second, her courage offers real hope for patients with the same diagnosis. She also offers genuinely practical advice, from how to cope with night sweats to what to say to someone who has cancer.

With all proceeds from sales of the book funding future care and research, the author’s experience, her strength and her will for survival will touch readers. Her book is an important read for nurses and patients.
