Nursing Standard podcast: your revalidation questions answered

NMC adviser Sue West’s advice for nurses who have looming deadlines, including how to present your COVID-19 experience

The NMC’s Sue West answers questions about the revalidation process

How do nurses manage to revalidate during a pandemic?

And how can their COVID-19 experiences be used as part of their reflective practice requirements?

These questions and more are answered by Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) senior nursing education adviser Sue West in the latest Nursing Standard podcast.

Revalidation challenges for nurses amid COVID-19

Ms West discusses issues such as time pressures and access to continuing professional development and how the regulator has responded and adapted to the challenges facing nurses who are approaching revalidation.

The NMC gave an automatic 12-week extension to registrants who were to revalidate between March and June 2020, and those who have a revalidation deadline from July 2020 to January 2021 have the opportunity to request the same flexibility.
