What support do you think the nursing profession needs now and in the future?

If you have a suggestion on how to invest in nursing and midwifery, the RCN Foundation wants to hear from you.

Nurses invited to help charity target its support for nurses and nursing

The foundation is currently seeking views from nursing staff about the direction of its next strategy.

The charity is keen to hear from nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers about what’s important to them in their professional lives, as well as some of the broader healthcare issues.

RCN Foundation director Deepa Korea said: ‘The need to support nursing and midwifery staff has never been more urgent and important. With that in mind, we are keen for staff at all levels and in all settings to have an input into what our next strategy should look like.

‘This is an opportunity for nursing and midwifery staff to shape our future direction, and I welcome their views on what would help to improve things for themselves and those their care for.’

RCN Foundation: how does it help nurses?

The RCN Foundation is an independent charity that aims to support and strengthen nursing and midwifery to improve the health and wellbeing of the public.

Although it’s part of the RCN you don’t have to be a college member to access support from the charity.

It provides grants to nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers who are experiencing hardship, or for education and development activities. It also funds nursing and midwifery-led research and practice development projects.

RCN Foundation’s current activities

The foundation’s current strategy, which comes to an end in December 2023, has focused on four areas:

  • Supporting the nursing and midwifery community in times of need
  • Investing in nursing and midwifery through education grants
  • Funding nursing-led projects that improve patient care, health and well-being
  • Increasing public understanding of the contribution of nursing and midwifery
