Up to 1,500 RCN members may have received the wrong ballot papers for the college’s council elections.

The RCN was notified of the error by the independent scrutineer, Electoral Reform Services, which is also overseeing the printing and distribution of the ballot papers.

Corrective action

In a statement on its website, the RCN said a ‘small number of members’ in London, and Yorkshire and the Humber, had received ballot papers for the wrong constituencies.

ERS is posting replacement ballot papers to all members who may have been affected by the error.

How to inform the RCN about a wrong ballot paper

An RCN spokesperson apologised to affected members and said: ‘Anyone who thinks they have received the wrong ballot paper should email us at elections@rcn.org.uk with their name, RCN membership number, which ballot paper they’ve received, and the serial number on that ballot paper.

‘The serial number is eight digits long and is on the top right-hand corner of the ballot paper.

‘ERS will then arrange for the correct ballot paper to be posted to them at the beginning of next week.’

Details of election areas

Voting for the RCN council elections opened last week, with candidates standing in London, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and the Northern, Yorkshire and the Humber, South East and West Midlands regions.

The Eastern, East Midlands, North West and South West regions, and nursing support workers, only had one eligible nomination each and the candidates have been elected unopposed.

Voting closes on 30 September.
