A nurse has admitted he partially removed the nipple of a man who is accused of carrying out castrations and broadcasting them online.

Nurse Nathaniel Arnold, of South Kensington in London, admitted he removed part of the nipple of Marius Gustavson in the summer of 2019 and pleaded guilty to assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent at the Old Bailey on 19 April.

Mr Arnold also admitted stealing medicine from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he worked in 2016. He pleaded guilty to the theft of local anaesthetic lidocaine and accepted a further offence of possessing extreme pornography.

Nurse was said to belong to gang accused of performing extreme body modifications

He appeared alongside Mr Gustavson, who is charged with five counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, one count of making an indecent image of a child and one count of distributing an indecent image of a child, as well as Damien Byrnes, also from London, who admitted removing Mr Gustavson’s penis.

Mr Arnold, who was arrested in March 2022, had an 18-month interim suspension order placed on him by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in June 2022.

He was said to be part of a gang of men – of which Mr Gustavson was the alleged ringleader – who are accused of performing extreme body modifications, including the removal of penises and testicles, on 13 alleged victims.

Procedures were filmed and put on website where subscribers would pay to watch, court told

The procedures were reportedly filmed and then uploaded to a ‘eunuch maker’ website Mr Gustavson is said to have run, where subscribers would pay to watch, the court was told.

Five other defendants are yet to enter a plea.

The BBC reported that the court was told the practice of extreme body modification is linked to a subculture where men become ‘nullos’, short for genital nullification, by having their penis and testicles removed.

A further hearing has been set for 31 May, with a plea and case management hearing expected to take place on 30 June.
