Regulator asks nurses, midwives and nursing associates to suggest priorities for action
Have your say and help shape our future, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has urged registrants.
The regulator is asking for views on areas it should focus on in its strategy for 2020-2025.
Nurses, midwives, nursing associates and the public can submit their views via an online feedback form between now and June.
Responses will be used to decide key themes for the five-year strategy, which will be put out to consultation later this year.
'We need your contributions'
In a blog post, NMC chief executive Andrea Sutcliffe said: 'I am asking everyone – the public, people who use services and patients; nurses, midwives and nursing associates; our partners; and NMC colleagues – to get involved. We need your contributions to help us co-produce our future.
'We want to understand what you think are the big issues that will impact on health and social care; how they will affect nursing and midwifery; and what this may mean for the NMC. We want to hear what you think we do well, what we need to work on, and how the NMC can continue to improve.'
NMC five-year strategy timetable
- April-June 2019 NMC gathers feedback from registrants, partners and the public to develop key themes
- From July Key themes go out for public consultation and further discussion
- October-December NMC will agree on strategic aims in response to consultation
- January 2020 Five-year plan finalised, business plan and budget agreed
- Spring 2020 Strategy published
