First nursing associates appear in videos aiming to clarify their role

Skills for Care videos describe how role bridges the gap between healthcare assistants and registered nurses

Skills for Care has released several videos on its website addressing the positive effect of the new nursing associate role.

As the numbers of older people requiring complex care increases, resources are pressurised and it is hoped the role will free up the time of registered nurses as well as provide an opportunity for career development.

The charity's videos feature an interview with Emily Gillott, nursing associate at Drovers Call Care Home in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, who emphasised the benefits to her career.

'The course itself has helped me massively. I didn't have the qualifications to go on and do my nursing degree straight away so this is like a stepping stone to get me where I want to be.'
