Nurses have united on social media to boost students’ morale, with tips on how to keep their spirits up and get through their education against the backdrop of the current NHS crisis.

Second-year nursing student Emma Turner put out an appeal for advice on Twitter as emergency departments across the UK continue to be at crisis point.

In response, #nurseTwitter rallied round. Ms Turner was inundated with replies, with many nurses advising students to focus on why they entered the profession, and others highlighting the positive aspects of their job.

District nurse Anna Attril wrote: ‘Take every day as it comes. Every win no matter how big or small is a win, you make such a huge difference to every patient’s life whether it's helping them to the loo, holding their hand or giving medication. The value of what every member of the NHS gives is huge. Keep going.’

Others emphasised the positive impact nurses have on the people they care for.

Some urged nursing students to ‘count the small things’, while others spoke about making connections with patients and making a difference to their lives.

Fellow student nurses said they were in the same boat, and that ‘seeing the crisis spread around you is exhausting and heart-breaking’.
