Nursing care uplift will not be enough to solve care home crisis

The rise in the NHS-funded nursing care contribution is welcome, but it will not erase years of failure to increase funding to care homes in line with inflation
As a nursing home manager, I was relieved to hear that the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has increased the NHS-funded nursing care (FNC) contribution by the substantial uplift of 11.5%, to £209.19 per week for 2022-23.
I was also delighted to learn that an additional £87 million is to be made in back payments for 2021-22 .
