The Nurse Researcher podcast aims to demystify clinical academia, explain what researchers do and how they got there, and offer career advice

As nurses, we are aware of research; it is all around us in the form of the evidence underpinning the things we do. It is in journals, in databases and on social media, but to some (perhaps most) nurses, research is seen to be for others, for the ‘clever people’, for the academics.

However, if those ‘clever people’ are nurse academics or clinical academics then, guess what, they started their nurse training and first nursing roles just like every other nurse. They took up their first nurse posts, and the chances are, they did not foresee a future in health research.
