Sophie has worked as a journalist specialising in healthcare for more than 20 years. Sophie joined what is now RCNi in 2010, as assistant editor of its specialist nursing titles. She became editor of Emergency Nurse journal in 2016.

Tricia Scott
Consultant editor
Tricia is a registered mental health nurse and registered adult nurse who has focused on emergency nursing throughout her career.
She was a staff nurse then sister in a major trauma unit in the north east of England before becoming a nurse educator in 1991 to pioneer the first specialist-practice emergency nursing programme. After completing a doctorate in social research at Durham University in 2003, Tricia’s research has focused on emergency nursing at the interface of acute and primary care and how emergency department working has responded to national emergency care agendas.
Tricia has been programme director for the professional doctorate in health research at the University of Hertfordshire, where she also supervised doctoral candidates. She has worked nationally and internationally on the strategic quality assurance of education standards for nurses and enhanced emergency care staff. Tricia has also worked on a range of national committees, including a national NHS research ethics committee. She is currently an education and research consultant.
