When will older people’s nursing get the recognition it deserves?

Older people’s nursing is undervalued in our society. This is a bold statement to make, but in my nearly 30 years in the field, and in particular dementia care nursing, it is time it was said.

Many people have said the same over the years, yet it seems that our approach in this field of practice has been to nod affectionately rather than expect the same parity of esteem that other fields of nursing rightly command.
