What students can expect from a placement in cancer nursing

Working with cancer patients may seem daunting, but in practice it offers a chance to learn many transferable skills while supporting people from all walks of life
I recently returned to university for a career change to nursing. While I have always been inspired by people who work in clinical settings, this is a completely different career path from the one I originally planned.
When I was 18, I completed a degree in human biology, but I ended up working in business development and pharmaceutical marketing. Now, at 32, I am coming towards the end of my final placement in cancer nursing at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London, one of the largest comprehensive cancer centres in Europe.
