A CPD article improved Lorna Young’s knowledge of the treatment and management of chronic heart failure

<p>Recently my colleagues and I developed our understanding of the 6Cs of nursing – care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment. As a result, I became interested in the wider organisational effect on care, both at ward and trust level.</p>

<p>This article reminded me that it is important for mentors not to undermine students’ confidence while continuing to challenge them in preparation for qualification and further managerial responsibilities.</p>
