There has been little done to offer consistent support to people with schizophrenia to stop smoking. A case study is used to show how specialist advice and the use of varenicline alongside family group work and support can help a patient refrain from smoking and increase wellbeing. This process showed how mental health nurses can help clients to quit and the importance of collaboration with medical colleagues.
