Summary

Are you a website editor looking for a change? Do you have skills that are currently being under-used and feel the time is right to branch out and take on a bright new challenge?

The structure of the digital department at RCNi consists of two web editors reporting to the Head of Digital Publishing.

This role entails supporting the Head of Digital Publishing in every aspect of our digital world as we grow in prominence. We currently use two different platforms to merge and manage content via XML feeds and manual page creation. A keen eye for detail is imperative as you will be checking, investigating, and fixing XML and HTML code errors as well as publishing content.

The web editor role is very much at the heart of our company as you will be working with every department – editorial, production, product development, marketing, and sales – to ensure each department is represented in the best possible way for our online readers.

About you

You will be competent, confident, and friendly, willing to work in a team as well as shine as an individual. Digital project manager experience would be a bonus and creativity would be a plus, especially when identifying new ways to improve our online content. You will know coding and understand the difference between HTML and XML.

You will also have experience of using analytics and SEO for reporting and to make sure the most valuable content is where the reader expects to find it. It would be a benefit if you have experience of working with UGC, whether in a moderated environment or an open forum. You will have IA and UX knowledge and know how to appraise a website for navigation and consistency.

You will be competent in Photoshop and / or other creative editing software, and have a visual flair with colour and layout. Although this isn’t primarily a writing role, you will have good command of the written word and know how to make online communications clear and friendly within our brand style.
