Abstract

The choice of intramuscular injection site should be based on several factors. Each site has advantages and disadvantages. The patient’s age, gender, weight and condition should be considered, as well as the tolerance and volume of the drug being administered.

Many patients in oncology wards have a low body mass index; therefore, it is important to consider needle size and injection site in these patients to ensure that medication is successfully delivered under the muscle fascia.
