Julie Sylvester

Editor

Julie has been a journalist for more than 30 years, many of which have been spent in nursing journalism as a reporter, writer and editor. As the editor of Primary Health Care, she has overseen the growth and development of the journal in championing the work of nurses across all community and primary care settings. She is also the managing editor of Nurse Researcher, the RCNi’s quarterly international research methodology journal.

Sue Thomas

Associate editor

Sue is a healthcare consultant. With a clinical background in nursing, Sue has worked in a national role since 1991 and spent 18 years as a policy and practice adviser at the RCN, initially for district nursing and then for long-term conditions. Following this, she set up Neurological Commissioning Support, a unique commissioning support organisation for the voluntary sector, and took this to NHS England niche-provider status in 2014. Sue has been an expert adviser to numerous national strategic work streams and given evidence to many national strategic reviews including those undertaken by all-party parliamentary groups and the House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts. Sue has led service transformation projects in primary and secondary care and provided commissioning mentorship. Her passions are for neurology and long-term conditions, and she advocates for the value of specialist nurses. Sue is a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholar, a Winston Churchill Trust fellow, and frequently speaks both nationally and internationally.
