Tattoos and piercings: are nurse uniform rules finally easing?

Some NHS trusts say restrictions maintain the image of the profession – but others are relaxing uniform policies to allow false eyelashes, tattoos and coloured hair. An outdated approach, say some, arguing that allowing more individual expression means nurses can do their jobs without being judged on their appearance. Others, meanwhile, feel such restrictions are necessary to maintain a professional image.
