- Nursing student attrition has remained fairly consistent in recent years, but figures for the 2018-2021 cohort suggest a rise to 33%
- During this period, students had to contend with the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the usual pressures of placements, study and finances
- Suggestions to tackle the problem include reducing time spent on clinical practice placements, although the Nursing and Midwifery Council says there is ‘little appetite’ for this
