Cardiology is a specialist branch of medicine focused on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with disorders of the heart and blood vessels, known as the cardiovascular system .
A clinical placement in cardiology offers a range of experiences for nursing students, from managing complex conditions before and after treatment to giving lifestyle advice to patients. You will see adult patients of all ages, ranging from the relatively stable, for example those managing long-term conditions such as heart failure, to those who are acutely unwell following a myocardial infarction (MI) or heart block.
