The PPA said: ‘The work that Nursing Standard has undertaken in the past 12 months demonstrates the vital role played by specialist interest magazines/media brands when the sector it serves is on the front line.

‘The support you provided to your audience via campaigning and knowledge-sharing has been essential, and at a time when they needed it most. All in all, Nursing Standard is a prime example of how to represent its community successfully and honestly.’

‘Nursing staff helped shape our content by providing expert comment and clinical guidance, heart-breaking front-line testimonies and responding to our surveys to highlight crucial issues such as PPE shortages’

It’s an honour to continue to support nursing teams

Nursing Standard editor Flavia Munn

Nursing Standard editor Flavia Munn said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive this special award, which came as a complete surprise to us.

‘The past year has been incredibly challenging for the whole nursing team, and we have flexed to the ways in which the pandemic radically changed their information needs. In turn, nursing staff engaged with us to help shape the content – providing expert comment and clinical guidance, heart-breaking front-line testimonies and responding to our surveys to highlight crucial issues such as shortages of personal protective equipment.

‘We are thrilled to receive this award and honoured to continue to support nursing teams in caring for patients amid COVID-19.’

Nursing Standard was shortlisted for two separate awards by the PPA – Best Response to COVID-19 and Special Interest Magazine Brand of the Year.
