Nurses in Wales are being encouraged to be protect themselves this winter with a flu jab.

The Beat Flu campaign, led by Public Health Wales and supported by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, was launched this week to encourage vaccination in those most in need of protection.
Included in the eligible groups are pregnant women; people with certain long-term health conditions such as diabetes, heart, kidney and lung disease; everyone aged 65 and over; carers; and front-line health and social care workers.
Children aged between two to eight years are also eligible as the vaccine programme for children is being extended.
Best way of protection
Public health minister for Wales Rebecca Evans said: ‘People can be seriously ill with influenza, and a flu vaccination is the best way to protect against it, so make sure you get protected soon, for your own and other people's sake.’
Last month NHS leaders warned of a 'pressurised' winter after reports of hospitals in the southern hemisphere struggling to cope with the flu season.
In general, flu fighter campaigns for the UK nations are launched around October each year to encourage staff to get vaccinated ahead of the flu season.
