Independent reviewers to examine RCN’s governance – and they want to hear what members think

College orders report in response to fallout from 2018 NHS pay proposal
An independent review of how the RCN is run has opened.
The review was requested by RCN congress in 2019 in response to the way the college handled communication of the 2018 NHS Agenda for Change pay proposal in England, which members voted to accept.
Disquiet resulted in general secretary Janet Davies stepping down and members of the RCN ruling council resigning .
All RCN members are invited to take part in the governance review

Reviewers will examine the college's governance and decision making. They will consult focus groups and invite all college members to complete a survey.
RCN council chair Dee Sissons said: 'We are determined to learn from what has gone before and ensure we are not only committed to listening to our members but know for sure we have the structures in place to hear their voice.'
The findings will be published ahead of the 2020 RCN congress in Liverpool.
The review will be conducted by the Centre for Public Scrutiny.
