Student Anna Lewis was last seen on 13 April.

Specialist police officers will be carrying out searches of open areas in north and central Bristol in a bid to help locate Ms Lewis.

The 27-year-old University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) nursing student was last seen leaving a placement at Southmead Hospital at 12.15pm on Thursday 13 April.

It is believed Ms Lewis left the hospital grounds just before 1pm that day.

Increasingly worried

According to police, Ms Lewis has previously gone on camping trips alone, without telling anyone, so some focus will be on areas she has previously visited, including Scotland, Devon and Cornwall.

The nursing student, who lives in the Fishponds area of Bristol, also has experience of spending nights sleeping outside, including in wooded areas.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary detective inspector Roger Doxsey said: 'We’re clearly becoming very worried about Anna’s welfare as she has not been in touch with family or friends since Wednesday 12 April.

'We don’t believe she has her mobile phone or any money or bank cards with her, which is increasing our level of concern.'

Physical description

DI Doxsey said police were supporting Ms Lewis' parents and keeping them fully updated.

'We’re also working with UWE Bristol and Southmead Hospital to try and find out as much as we can about Anna and her movements in the days before she went missing.'

Ms Lewis is described as white, 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in, of slim build, with brown eyes and long dark brown hair, which she tends to wear in a low ponytail.

The clothing she wears tends to include jeans or walking trousers, hiking boots, and loose jumpers.

If you see Ms Lewis or know where she is, please call 999 and give the call handler the reference number 5217088178.
