Postal ballot for RCN council elections opens on 21 November
The names of the candidates standing for election to the RCN’s governing council have been announced.
Voting will open by postal ballot on 21 November and closes on 11 December. The elections are for one-year terms beginning on 1 January 2019.
Twelve seats are up for election after the incumbents announced their resignations as a result of a vote of no confidence in the college leadership.
The council members were called on to stand down at an extraordinary general meeting of UK members in September. This was in response to the college's handling and communication of the NHS pay deal in England.
Elections will take place in all constituencies where more than one candidate is standing. Where there is a sole candidate they will be elected unopposed, unless found to be ineligible following a period allowed for objection.
RCNi editorial director Graham Scott tweeted about the makeup of the candidates' list.

Members have until 2 November to raise objections to candidates’ eligibility to stand or for the candidates to withdraw from the process. A final list of candidates will be confirmed following the objection period.
