Exclusive: ‘shocking’ hospital learning disability nurse gaps

Nearly one in three NHS trusts in England (29%) do not have a specific acute learning disability liaison service with a learning disability registered nurse. This means that for many of the estimated 1.5 million people with learning disabilities in England, when they attend an acute hospital for treatment there will not be a clinician with specialist skills on hand to help meet their healthcare and communication needs.
