A broad overview of depression in later life, this book provides detailed chapters on pharmacotherapy, psychotherapies and psychosocial interventions. This is further expanded by chapters on electroconvulsive therapy, suicide and prevention of depression.

The evidence base is derived from a wide range of up-to-date resources and includes application of the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-V criteria. The application of tables throughout the book is helpful as they list interventions for each chapter and summarise distinguishing attributes.

Although I was initially put off by the reference to geriatric in the title and the suicide statistics in the US, I would recommend this as an individual buy for mental health nurses with a particular interest in older adults with depression.
