Dishonesty in nursing: why the regulator comes down so hard

The public trusts nurses more than any other professional group. The dishonesty of a nurse who was struck off after falsely claiming two years’ experience in a job application ran counter to the nursing ethos and the requirements of the Code, says article author, retired nurse Jane Bates. The nurse’s poor clinical skills caused concern among colleagues and his ward manager gave evidence to the Nursing and Midwifery Council fitness to practise panel.
