Nurses urged to apply for £10,000 leadership scholarship
Nurse directors of the future are being urged to apply for a new £10,000 leadership scholarship.
Up to £10,000 is available as part of the new Aspiring Nurse Directors Leadership Scholarship from the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
It is open to experienced nurses and midwives working in London and the south east of England who have the potential to secure a board level position in the next three years.
Board position
Applicants are also being sought from black and minority ethnic nurses for the existing Chief Nursing Officer for England BME Leadership Scholarship, which is worth up to £15,000.
It is open to nurses and midwives in England who aspire to a board position or who may already be a director or deputy director of nursing, head of midwifery, a nurse or midwife consultant, or a modern matron.
Recent research by the foundation shows that about 60% of leadership scholars have gone on to be promoted or had an important change to their level of responsibility at work.
Highly motivated
Florence Nightingale Foundation chief executive Elizabeth Robb urged people to apply.
She said: 'We are looking for people who are highly motivated and determined, know what they want in their career and are interested in improving the care of patients.’
Applications for the scholarships close on Monday 15 August.
