NHS nurse overtime: would you work extra shifts to clear the backlog?

Nursing staff are being asked to do extra shifts to help clear the NHS backlog in England, but 76% of nurses already work more than their contracted hours at least once a week. One nurse says extra hours, often unpaid, that NHS staff already work, contribute to burnout, and better staffing levels and working conditions are needed. Nurses and nursing leaders should be involved in designing the plan to reduce the NHS backlog.
