A video of a children's nurse singing to one of her young patients has prompted an outpouring of emotion on social media.

Beth Porch, who works at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, was filmed playing a ukulele and singing the McFly song All About You to three-year-old Artie Vickerage.

The video, posted by Artie’s mother has already been viewed on Twitter 382,000 times, attracting hundreds of comments from people saying they have been moved to tears.

Artie's mother, Gemma, has been at the hospital for the past seven weeks since her young son was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma.

Speaking to Nursing Standard, Ms Vickerage described Ms Porch as a special person who could often be heard around the ward singing to children.

‘The children love it when nurse sings to them’

'My son is only three and he was mesmerised, he didn't move the whole time she sang to him. She has such a lovely voice and the children love it, she is really amazing,' she said.

‘Even after a busy shift I’ll sometimes stay to play for patients because it’s a such a simple thing for me to do, but it makes a huge difference to their day’

Ms Porch said she has grown up playing music and is happy to share it with patients.

'I try to learn the kids’ favourite songs – I get some strange requests.

'Even after a busy shift I'll sometimes stay to play for them because it's a such a simple thing for me to do, but it makes a huge difference to their day,’ she said.

'I'm just glad my team and my hospital are getting recognition for the incredible staff and families we have here,’ she said.

Ms Porch is hoping to release some of her own songs in the near future to raise money for nurses from Great Ormond Street’s Lion and Giraffe wards who are doing a fundraising Kilimanjaro climb in 2020.
