RCNi Nurse Awards 2017 winners announced tonight

The wait is almost over for nurses across the UK, who will tonight find out if they are a winner in the RCNi Nurse Awards 2017

The awards are the profession’s top accolade for nursing excellence, recognising and rewarding nurses who have come up with new ways to improve health outcomes, enhance patient experiences and transform nursing practice.
Attendees
Among those attending tonight's high-profile event at the Westminster Park Plaza is England's chief nursing officer Jane Cummings.
'I'm looking forward to hearing so many exceptional and inspiring stories,' Professor Cummings told Nursing Standard.
'As a profession we deliver some of the best, compassionate care to our populations, across the country and this is an opportunity to share innovation and learn from each other.
'All nominees have demonstrated true excellence, so it’s only right their hard work and dedication is celebrated.'
Across the board
The awards span a range of areas, including learning disability nursing, child health and cancer nursing, and celebrate the best of the UK’s nursing workforce.
The coveted RCN Nurse of the Year 2017 prize will be awarded to one of the category winners at the end of tonight's ceremony.
The categories are as follows:
- Andrew Parker Student Nurse Award in association with RCN Fellows.
- Bank Nurse Award.
- Cancer Nursing Practice Award.
- Child Health Award.
- Commitment to Carers Award.
- Community Nursing Award.
- Excellence in Cancer Research Award
- Innovations in your Specialty.
- Leadership Award.
- Learning Disability Practice Award.
- Mental Health Practice Award.
- Nursing Older People Award
- Patient's Choice Award.
- RCN Healthcare Assistant Award.
RCNi editorial director Graham Scott said: ‘The RCNi Nurse Awards are always a great platform for nurses involved in research to show how they are using their skills to improve care and the quality of life for patients.
‘This year’s entries are strong and they demonstrate that nurses are bringing those skills to a wide range of cancer types and addressing different aspects of patient need.’
