Finalists announced for child health category at RCNi Nurse Awards 2017

RCNi is proud to reveal the finalists for the child health award at the RCNi Nurse Awards 2017, which showcase innovation, talent and skill across the nursing profession.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel in London on the night of Friday 5 May.

The awards span a range of areas, including learning disability nursing, nursing older people and cancer nursing, and celebrate the best of the UK’s nursing workforce.

The coveted RCN Nurse of the Year 2017 title will be awarded to one of the category winners at the end of the ceremony.

Award shortlist

The shortlist for the child health award is:

  • Drew Mcdonald, NHS Grampian.
  • Helen Thornton, St Helens and Knowsley NHS Teaching Trust.
  • Karen Higgins and Lucy Andrews, Sunflowers Care Limited.
  • Catherine Brindle, Liverpool Community Health.
  • Carrie James, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Last year’s child health award was won by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust school nurse Ruth Butler.

Ms Butler won for her use of technology in educating teenagers about health via a dedicated web page.

Also nominated in the RCNi Nurse Awards 2017 is University of Cumbria nursing student Zoe Butler, who has been shortlisted for the Andrew Parker student nurse award for her work in child mental health.
