Venues compete to host Peter Liversidge's work

The RCN’s library and heritage centre is one of four venues competing to host an exhibition by renowned British artist Peter Liversidge.

Known for designing stages for musicians as well as exhibitions, Mr Liversidge has worked with Tate Liverpool and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art among other galleries worldwide. The RCN is competing against Castle Drogo in Dartmoor, Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol and the Radio Communication Museum in Derby to host his work as part of Connect! which gives arts and cultural venues the chance to work with leading artists to develop unique collaborative events.

The public can choose which of the four venues should win his services in an online vote. The resulting exhibition will form part of the Museums at Night festival taking place in October. The venue with the most votes when the polls close at 9pm on Saturday, May 14 wins the artist and £3,000 towards staging the event

RCN audience and engagement manager Sarah Chaney, said: ‘Peter Liversidge is one of the country’s most exciting artists and we are thrilled to be in the running to work with him.

‘Nursing and the arts often come together in unforeseen ways, and it would be wonderful to have the opportunity to do so as we celebrate 100 years of nursing.’

The library and heritage centre in Marylebone, London, is home to the Europe’s largest collection of nursing materials, as well as the college’s centenary exhibition The Voice of Nursing: Celebrating 100 years of the RCN.
