Who can enter?
Nurses, health visitors, midwives registered to practice in the UK whose primary employment is nursing as well as nursing students studying in the UK and individuals working in the UK in a health care support role.
Entries can be for an individual nurse or a nursing team for all categories except the Andrew Parker Student Nurse Award and the RCN Healthcare Assistant Award, which are open to individuals only. Nurses can enter themselves, their team or be nominated by a colleague for all categories except the Andrew Parker Student Nurse Award. For this category, student nurses must enter themselves.
How to enter?
Entering is easy. Simply choose which category to enter and complete the online entry form below by midnight on Friday 6 January 2017.
Is there a fee to enter the awards?
No. Entry to the awards is free.
Entries must be submitted by midnight on Friday 6 January 2017.
Can I enter more than one category?
You may enter the same initiative/ project for more than one award or several initiatives / projects for different awards. If you enter the same initiative for multiple awards, please note that it is at the discretion of the Editorial Director as to whether each entry submitted will be judged or whether it is more appropriate for the entry to be judged in just one / couple of categories.
Will I get feedback on my entry?
Our judges kindly give up their time to judges the awards and due to the high number of entries received individual feedback on each entry is not possible.
How will I know if I have been short listed as a finalists?
All entrants will be notified by email the outcome of their entry. Emails will be sent out between the 13 and 17 February 2017.
How many finalists will be short listed?
For all categories, five finalists will be shortlisted.
What do I need to do if I am a finalist?
All finalists except the Patient’s Choice Award finalists will be invited to one of the judging days in London discuss their initiative / entry with a panel of judges. The judging days will take between the 6 and 10 March at London Cavendish Square, 33 Cavendish Square, London, W1G 0PW. Further details regarding the judging day will be sent to finalists in February 2017.
Patient’s Choice Award finalists do not need to attend the judging day.
When will I know if I have won?
Category winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 5 May 2017. Category winners will be considered for the overall award, the “RCN Nurse of the Year 2017”. All finalists will receive on complimentary ticket to the ceremony. Additional tickets will be available to purchase from January 2017.
This will take place on Friday 5 May 2017 at the Westminster Park Plaza, London. The dress code for the evening is black tie. The provisional timings are as follows:
VIP reception: 5:30pm
Award presentations: 9:15pm
Tickets to the awards ceremony
All finalists will receive one complimentary ticket to the awards ceremony. Additional tickets will be available to purchase from January 2017.
When will I receive my invitations?
Your invitations will be sent to you in early March via email, in time for you to send them on to your confirmed guests.
What is the dress code for the awards?
Do I need to know all of my guests’ details before I book my table?
No. You can log back into the online booking system and add the names for your guests. Names needs to be submitted by Friday 31st March 2017.
Who do I notify if one of my guests has special dietary requirements?
When you book online, you will be asked if you / your guests have any dietary requirements. You do not need to complete this at the time of your booking. You can log back into the booking system. Dietary requirements needs to be submitted by Friday 31st March 2017.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made in writing to the registration contact. Cancellations for bookings received before Friday 7th April 2017 will be refunded, less an administrative charge of £75+VAT. Cancellations for bookings received on or after Friday 7th April 2017 will not be refunded. In the event that this function is cancelled by the Organisers, a full refund will be made of any booking fees paid. However, if the Event is postponed for reasons beyond the direct control of the Organisers, this booking will be transferred to the revised date of the Event and no refund will be due.
