Do I have to be a member of the Royal College of Nursing to enter the awards?
No. You do not need to be a member of the RCN to enter the awards.


When is the ceremony for 2022?
The RCN Nursing Awards will take place on 6 October.


Where will the new awards ceremony take place?
The RCN Nursing Awards 2022 will now be held at the Royal College of Nursing, 20 Cavendish Square, London, W1G 0RN. The event will still take place on 6 October 2022.


What is the dress code?
Business smart.


Will refreshments be provided?
Yes, we will provide all attendees with lunch followed by a drinks reception after the awards have concluded. If you have any dietary requirements, please contact awards@rcni.com


Do I need to let you know in advance who I am bringing with me?
For health and safety, we must know in advance the names of each guest. A member of the RCN Nursing Awards event team will be in touch to discuss this with you.


We are a team of 3, can we all attend?
Unfortunately due to space limitations at the venue, finalists are only allowed to bring one guest with them. We understand that this will be disappointing, but we plan to offer live streaming event so that your colleagues and friends can view the event.


I can no longer attend the event, is there another way I can participate?
We will be working with our internal AV team to set up a live stream for those attendees that are unable to join us on the day. More information on how to watch the awards will be sent out in due course.


I can no longer attend and have already paid for travel – can I claim a refund?
Please contact the travel company you booked with first to discuss their cancellation / refund policy. If you are unable to claim a refund, please
contact awards@rcni.com and request an expense form to claim a full refund.


I can no longer attend and have already paid for my accommodation – can I claim a refund?
Please contact the hotel you booked with first to discuss their cancellation / refund policy. If you are unable to claim a refund, please contact awards@rcni.com and request an expense form to claim a full refund.


I can attend but will have to change my travel tickets, what should I do?
RCNi will cover the cost of your new travel tickets. Please contact awards@rcni.com and request an expense form.


I have booked and paid for a seat/table to attend the original RCN Nursing Awards – what happens now?
You will receive a full refund for your seat/ table booking. Cancellation charges will not apply.


I have booked a seat/table to attend the awards but have not yet paid, what should I do?
A member of the RCN finance team will be in touch with the booker to cancel the invoice. No payment will be taken, and cancellation charges
will not apply.


Is there a fee to enter?
No. All entries are free and must be received by Wednesday 20 April, 2022.

The original deadline to enter was Friday 25 March 2022.


Is there a limit to how many entries you can submit?
There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted.


Who can enter?
This is dependent on the category, as listed below:

  • Patient's Choice Award
    Entries for this category are accepted from patients and members of the public only. Entries from nurses or colleagues of nurses will not be accepted. Nominees do not need to be a member of the RCN.
  • Nursing Support Worker Award
    Entries for this category are accepted from individual nursing support workers such as healthcare assistants, nursing associates and assistant practitioners. They can also be nominated by colleagues such as nurses, managers or consultants. Team entries are accepted for this category. Entrants do not need to be a member of the RCN.
  • Excellence in Cancer Research Nursing Award
    Entrants are accepted from nurses who work on clinical trials in cancer, who are entering as or on behalf of a clinical research nurse, or work as part of a research team that includes clinical research nurses. Entrants do not need to be a member of the RCN.
  • Learning Disability Nursing
    Entries for this category are accepted from learning disability nurses or learning disability nursing teams. Non-nursing colleagues such as managers or consultants may also nominate their nursing colleagues for this award. Entrants do not need to be a member of the RCN
  • All other categories:
    Entries are accepted from nurses nominating themselves or their own teams or can be submitted on behalf of another nurse or nursing team. Non-nursing colleagues such as managers or consultants may also nominate their nursing colleagues. Entrants do not need to be a member of the RCN.

How to enter
Entries must be submitted online via the ‘enter’ button. We recommend nominators write the body of their entry in a separate document first, then copy and paste it into the entry form, to avoid the risk of submissions being lost. For the best experience entering on our website, we suggest using the internet browser Chrome.


Changing categories
Once you begin creating your entry, you will be unable to change the category you have chosen to enter. If you want to change category, you will need to delete your original entry in the dashboard and then create a new entry.


What is the entry deadline?
All entries must be received via the RCN Nursing Awards website by Wednesday 20 April, 2022.

This deadline has been extended from the original date of Friday 25 March, 2022. 


Can I view my entry after the deadline?
No, once the deadline has passed, you will not be able to view your entry. If you have any query about your submission(s), please contact the awards team on awards@rcni.com


When will I know whether my entry has been short-listed?
All entrants will be notified via email to confirm whether their entry has been successful or not. If applicable, the entrant’s nominator will also be notified via email at the same time.


Will I get feedback on my entry?
Our judges kindly give up their time to judge the awards voluntarily and due to the high number of entries received individual feedback on each entry is not possible.


When will I find out if my entry has won?
The category winners and overall RCN Nurse of the Year will be announced at the RCN Nursing Awards on Thursday 6 October. Winners are not notified before the ceremony.
