Patient’s Choice Award finalist: Rosie Mulholland

Patient’s Choice Award finalist: Rosie Mulholland

Community children’s nurse, Southern Health and Social Care Trust

‘Rosie deserves recognition for her work, her generosity and her caring nature,’ says Christina Vazquez, who nominated her daughter Emily’s nurse. Aged five, Emily has Dandy-Walker Syndrome, resulting in global development delay. Christina says: ‘At times you can feel very alone, but I know Rosie is there for us any time day or night.’ As Christina doesn’t drive, Rosie takes Emily to appointments when no transport is available, even in her own time. Rosie also doggedly pushed forward the application for a suitable home for the family. ‘Even when I moved she turned up with her children to help,’ says Christina. And when Christina split from her husband, Rosie was there to arrange counselling and helped her join a support group. She also found support when Christina’s sons struggled with the impact of Emily’s arrival.
