Mental Health Practice Award finalist: Ex-Armed Forces Project Team
Mental Health Practice Award finalist: Ex-Armed Forces (Veterans) Project Team
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust
The team, led by Lynne Davidson, has been shortlisted for its work addressing the mental health needs of former armed forces personnel. Previously veterans did not have a service that recognised their different experiences. Now they have a care pathway tailored to their needs. The team ensures those experiencing trauma related to their service have their access to treatment prioritised where necessary. Families are supported too. There is a network of more than 40 volunteer veteran champions throughout the trust and the team has delivered a training package for clinicians on engaging and treating veterans. Service-user involvement has been achieved through the creation of a Veterans Forum.
