Leadership Award winner: Community Nursing Team

Virgin Care

Tracy Harman (pictured) and her team’s comprehensive district nurse development programme has enabled district nurses to develop their leadership skills and empowered them to champion high-quality, compassionate, patient-centred services. All practice teachers, district nurses and senior community nurses at band 6 or 7 took part in the two-and-a-half day programme boasting four modules, including leadership behaviours, managing people and driving improvements. HR policy, root cause analysis for when things go wrong, and how to manage difficult conversations were also included. Participants’ feedback speaks for itself – 100% said after the programme that they were very confident in managing their teams.
