Innovations in your Specialty Award finalist: Lynne Bromley

Specialist practitioner, Mandalay Medical Centre

Lynne has been working to improve diabetes and cardiovascular disease care for patients from Boltons South Asian communities. Despite having a significantly higher prevalence of diabetes, this population was far less likely to visit a GP or take up retina and foot screening. There was a high rate of unplanned hospital admissions. Lynne has been addressing this engagement gap through partnerships with GPs and mosques, and initiatives including training 50 champions to engage with their community. She has held screening sessions to identify unmet health needs, and both Diabetes UK and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust have invested 50,000 to develop the champion training programme.
