Bank Nurse Award finalist: Lauren Duncan

Staff nurse, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Lauren has played a central role in improving services at Stobhill Hospitals ophthalmology department through hard work and a great rapport with patients. Lauren offers counselling and education to patients with sight difficulties and signposts support services. She has improved paperwork to
increase care consistency and devised systems to make case note information more accessible. She has taken on a six-month patient notes and information project, and helps ensure the clinic meets infection control and health and safety guidelines. Lauren also takes on tasks identified by audits. She was nominated by charge nurse Emma Stalker: Lauren is a huge asset. She is professional, caring and compassionate, and works any shifts asked of her. By knowing we have her full support we are able to plan and expand services that would otherwise not be possible.
